~Misery Loves Company~
Why does it seem like miserable people like to stick to you like glue or at least try to stick to you. It is like when they know and see you are a positive person and they value your wisdom and outlook on things they tend to sponge on you literally sucking you dry. To the positive person it is draining and feels like they are sucking you dry but to the miserable person they may feel a high from being around you and you may be their safe place from life. I feel it is important to be there for people yes but you still need to use wisdom and know when to make yourself available and when not to.
People go through things in life and they need a caring ear to listen sometimes and to be there for them is a blessing for them because you are able to comfort them and help them get through a difficult situation. At the same time though when you are a person who is always there for everyone else and you leave yourself last this is when it can get tricky. You have to set limits on your time around people who are always in need. If you do not set limits then you will always be drained and you will always feel as if you are running in circles with the same situations with the same people who need you.
Moral of the story is be there for people but also be there for yourself as well. You have to make sure that you are good first and that you are charged up and feeling good each day to handle things that are going on around you in your life first. Letting negative people drain you will take away from the things that you have going on in your life. Know the signs and know how to set limits.
Blessings to all
